Remodeling on a Budget - Tips to improve your home without breaking the bank.

SET A BUDGET.
Be truthful about how much you want to spend on your remodel. Once you have determined your budget, decrease the amount by 10 percent. This will cover any changes or mishaps you may incur while undergoing the remodel.

USE ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS. You want marble counter tops and cherry hardwood floors? Try using laminate counter tops and floors. They still look elegant and will save you money upfront and later with maintenance costs.

WORK WITH YOUR EXISTING FLOOR PLANS. Knocking down walls often includes rewiring the electricity and plumbing. Keeping your existing structural plan will save big bucks.

ADD SMALL DETAILS TO MAKE A BIG IMPACT. Putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls, changing the lighting design, and even upgrading faucets are relatively inexpensive and can make a room look brand new.
